California Massage Therapy
Continuing Education Requirements
Massage therapy license requirements vary from state to state, and the laws are constantly changing. It's our current understanding that while Senate Bill 731 was signed into law on September 27, 2008,
massage therapy in California is still regulated by the city governments through the business license or permit process. Statewide certification requirements have not yet been determined and it is also our understanding that certifications will not be issued until September 2009 at the earliest.
If you would like to verify this information or have questions about statewide certification, we suggest contacting the American Massage Therapy Association's California Chapter (AMTA-CA) by phone at 800-696-2682 or you can visit their website at www.amta-ca.org.
Regarding your current city renewal requirements, we recommend that you contact the police department in the city you wish to practice and inquire directly with them about their requirements for license renewal and massage therapy continuing education acceptance.
Remember, the Institute for Integrative Healthcare Studies is approved by the NCBTMB as a continuing education Approved Provider (#049478-00). All of our continuing education programs can be used for your National Certification renewal, with the exception of Nerve Mobilization.
You may also use our credits for other organizations you belong to such as the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) or Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP).
